Although Joseph Parker is the official mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight belt currently held by Anthony Joshua, the talk is that the Kiwi boxer may take an alternative route for a chance of becoming the heavyweight champion of the world.

With Eddie Hearn scrambling around trying to secure a fight with Wladimir Klitschko for Anthony Joshua, a fight Hearn reckons has a better than 50-50 chance of happening, Parker, who has a record of 21-0 with 18 wins coming by knockout, may well opt for a fight for the WBO version of the title.

The WBO version of the belt is currently held by Tyson Fury but it seems that the troubled boxer could soon be stripped of his belt with Parker then fighting either Andy Ruiz Junior or Wladimir Klitschko for the vacant belt.

On Saturday evening Parker enhanced his growing reputation with a spectacular stoppage of the Russian fighter Alexander Dimitrenko inside three rounds, having his opponent on the canvas no less than four times.

We?ll endeavour to keep a watchful eye on events.
