Down in the Southern Hemisphere, the New Zealand heavyweight, Joseph Parker, continues to carve out a reputation as a viable opponent for a world title fight.

Parker is the official IBF mandatory challenger for the heavyweight belt currently held by our very own Anthony Joshua.

But whether Joshua fights Parker next or whether Eddie Hearn can secure that colossal bout with Wladimir Klitschko next, remains to be seen.

On Saturday evening Parker kept his high profile career on the right tracks when he faced the Russian fighter, Alexander Dimitrenko, in Auckland.

Parker demolished his 34-year-old opponent, knocking him to the canvas on four separate occasions before seeing the fight stopped by a TKO in the third round.

However, the manner in which the fight ended didn?t please the Russian. Parker appeared to catch Dimitrenko with a full-bloodied punch whilst the Russian was already on the canvas, causing Dimitrenko to remark,

‘It was not correct. I was down on one knee and he hit me.

‘But this is the boxing business – heavyweight boxing.’

Parker, 24-years-of-age, is the favourite to be Joshua?s next opponent and it should be a decent match-up that will test the Watford fighter.
