Continuing on the heavyweight theme of today, another up-and-coming youngster added another knockout to his record this weekend.
Down in New Zealand, Joseph Parker is establishing a reputation as somebody who could be ready to gate-crash the world title scene.
Matched against an American opponent in Daniel Martz, Parker increased his record to 17-0 with 15 of those wins coming by knockout, by crushing Martz in the first round.
Caught by a right hand, the six feet seven inch Martz, toppled to the canvas and despite making best endeavours to get to his feet to continue, there was no way he was able to beat the count.
Parker, growing in confidence with every win, looks to be a huge prospect. Blessed with a knockout punch, the Kiwi is also adept at closing the ring down to get to any opponents that try to stay out of range.
For Parker there are bigger tests to come and you feel that if he is to become a serious contender a move to Europe or even the US will be needed.
