Although the heavyweight scene is probably as vibrant as it has ever been, since Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder took control of several of the belts, would either have lived with who many perceive as the greatest heavyweight ever?
Of course, the man I?m talking about is Muhammad Ali, the brash American who talked the talk, walked the walk and ruled the ring.
On this day in 1964, Muhammed Ali, or Cassius Clay as he was known back then, stepped into the ring, at Miami Beach in Florida, to fight the reigning heavyweight champion, Sonny Liston.
Ali was the 8-1 under-dog but fifty two years ago he became the champion of the world, stopping Liston with a blistering performance.
The Louisville Lip had arrived on the scene and Boxing was never to be the same again.
