There?s no doubting that the London 2012 Olympics has provided professional boxing with an injection of talent.
But whilst Anthony Joshua and Luke Campbell have seen their careers move along at an exceptional pace, one of our medallists has had an injury hit last twelve months.
At the reference Olympics, Anthony Ogogo picked up a bronze medal and started his professional career in fine style, winning his first seven professional fights.
However, it seems that all was not well during those fights and that Ogogo had to have surgery on a persistent Achilles problem, a problem that required two operations to solve.
His absence spanned a year but now, finally, Ogogo is set to step back into the professional ring next weekend, on a promotion happening in Berlin,
Ogogo?s opponent for his comeback fight has yet to be announced but after admitting that watching his previous Achilles injury affected performances made him cringe, Ogogo has remarked about his long-awaited comeback,
?I’m going to do everybody proud; it’s my first step back to greatness.’
Here at Vital Boxing we wish the lad well and we?ll endeavour to keep an eye on his progress.
