Last weekend we expressed our disappointment at how the previously unbeaten Anthony Ogogo had lost for the first time as a professional.

Ahead of the bout last Saturday evening, against Craig Cunningham, Ogogo had racked up eleven straight wins in the professional ranks.

Against Cunningham, Ogogo was pulled out of the fight, by his corner, after the fighter complained of blurred vision.

It turns out that the injury suffered by Ogogo is an injury that could see the Olympic medallist side-lined for a considerable period.

The medical synopsis is that Ogogo has a serious eye injury comprising of an eye socket fractured in two places.

For Ogogo, who has seen his career blighted by injury in recent time, it is another body-blow.

Discussing this latest set-back with the media, Ogogo has remarked,

‘After seeing an eye specialist today it turns out that I have fractured my eye socket in two places.

‘This is obviously an incredibly tough time for me. I have overcome a lot of adversity previously and now face an uncertain time in terms of my eyesight with now another mountain to climb.’

Here at Vital Boxing we wish Anthony Ogogo all the best as he mounts yet another comeback from injury.
