On Saturday night the promotion laid on by Eddie Hearn had a pretty decent undercard.
Fighting low down on the running order was Kid Galahad. The former British and European super-bantamweight, back on the comeback trail after serving a two-year drugs ban, saw off the challenge of the Italian fighter, Emiliano Salvini, stopping the veteran in the fourth round.
Conor Benn, son of the legend that is Nigel Benn, showed that he has inherited several traits his father possessed by stopping Joe Ducker with a second-round knockout. Benn has now won all four of his first four professional fights and is clearly a fighter to watch.
Gavin McDonnell, looking for a shot at a version of the super-bantamweight title, earned a points win over the Robin Zamora, a novice 18-year-old fighter from Nicaragua.
Another of the fighting Smith family, , edged closer towards being in world title contention again by stopping the Hungarian Daniel Regi, with a fifth-round stoppage after having his opponent on the floor six times.
Lastly, Martin J Ward, in what was a much waited bout, faced Andy Townend for the vacant British super-featherweight title. The fight pitched Ward, who had an exemplary amateur record, against the knockout artist Townend.
Ward dominated proceedings out-boxing Townend and not allowing him any chances to unload his power-punches before stopping his opponent in the eighth round, in what was an exhilarating performance and probably the best of his career so far.
