Up at the Echo Arena, in Liverpool, on July 12th, Anthony Joshua will have his 7th professional fight.

The 2012 Olympic gold medal winner, having won his previous six fights inside the distance, will be taking on Matt Skelton.

Skelton was once a leading British heavyweight but is now, to put it very kindly, very old. At 47 years of age Skelton?s best days are behind him and he enters this bout having lost his last two fights, bouts against John McDermott and David Price.

So whilst Joshua may try and talk the fight up, remarking to the media,

?Matt is my toughest test in the pros, there?s no doubt about that.?

?I hope he?s training hard so that we can put on a good show in Liverpool, it?s my first fight in the city and it?s on a great bill so I?m looking forward to a really big night and looking to put in a performance worthy of the stage.?

Although Skelton will come to frustrate and spoil, it has to be said that if Joshua can?t put him away in style then all the talk about being a future world champion might just be that, talk!
