But here at Vital Boxing we have reservations!

After three unsuccessful attempts to become a world title holder, Martin Murray is hoping that having joined up with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom he?ll be guided towards a fourth and, hopefully, successful attempt.

Having moved up from middleweight to super-middleweight division, Murray has gotten back to winning ways and it has been announced that the Manchester fighter will be fighting on the under-card of the contest between Josh Warrington and Joel Brunker at the Direct Arena, in Leeds, on September 5th.

However whilst we applaud the fact that Murray is being kept active as he?s guided towards a fourth world title attempt, the choice of opponent for his next fight, on the aforementioned date, is puzzling.

Murray has been matched with Jose Miguel Torres, a fighter with a record that reads 31-6 with 27 of those wins coming by the big knockout. However, whilst his record may look respectable on paper it should be noted that Torres normally fights at middleweight.

Furthermore, at just five feet eight inches tall, the difference in height could see an uncomfortable, messy fight develop. Whilst not wishing to see Murray pushed too hard in this division so soon after moving up, surely it would be better to see him put in with a genuine super-middleweight performer, would it not?
