Okay I know it was Martin Murray?s first fight with Matchroom and his first fight in the super-middleweight category but didn?t anyone else think his fight last night was bordering on farce?

Murray was matched against George Beroshvili, a fighter not many knew much about and Murray duly stuck him away inside two rounds, probably learning nothing about the super-middleweight division in doing so.

After recently being stopped, in somewhat brutal fashion by Gennady Golovkin, it is, perhaps, understandable that Eddie Hearn wanted to give Murray an easy start in this new, for Murray, division, but the manner in which his opponent just wasn?t up to scratch and offered nothing left me, and many others, hugely disappointed.

Now whilst having every respect for Murray, a fighter I perceive is in the same class as George Groves and James DeGale but who hasn?t been given the same high profile, surely it isn?t going to be the done thing to simply pad Murray?s record out with wins against fighters not fit to lace his boots, Murray deserves and is far better than that.
