On the under-card of the Eddie Hearn promotion in Manchester, the St Helens super-middleweight Martin Murray was back in action.
With a huge domestic tear-up with George Groves, set for the undercard of Anthony Joshua?s first defence of his IBF heavyweight title, on June 25th, Murray took the opportunity to take a warm-up fight.
Murray?s opponent last night, in Manchester, was the Belgian fighter Cedric Spera.
From the off it was obvious that Spera wasn?t in the same class as Murray and it came as no surprise when Murray stopped his opponent in the second round
Murray, who has fought for a world title on four occasions and has yet to come up trumps, will face a far more durable opponent in George Groves and it is a fight we?re eagerly looking forward to, with the loser having nowhere to go.
