Over the weekend we commented on reports emerging that suggested Martin Murray would be next to climb into the ring with the current hot-shot of the division, Gennady Golovkin.

However, that inference has been shot down by Tom Loeffler of K2 promotions who has inferred that Murray has missed his chance and that the February date in Monte Carlo will see Golovkin take on an opponent like Sergio Martinez or Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Talking about Murray, who has a record of 25-1-1, with 11 by way of knockout, Loeffler is said to have remarked,

?Murray had turned down a previous shot for him to fight Gennady in Canada? We would like a unification fight with Martinez, or a fight with Julio Cesar Chavez?until we can get one of them in the ring with him, we?re going to keep Gennady active.?

It remains to be seen if either of those two classy fighters mentioned can be secured to a deal or, just perhaps, despite Loeffler?s insistence, Murray does get the gig.
