At the Echo Arena, in Liverpool, tonight Martin Murray makes his first appearance under the Matchroom banner.

After being beaten last time out by Gennady Golovkin, Murray has not only changed promoter but has moved up from middleweight to super-middleweight.

The popular British fighter has had three unsuccessful world title attempts and will be hoping that Eddie Hearn and his team can guide him towards a fourth attempt. But at thirty-two years of age, time is of the essence for Murray.

Tonight he starts his career as a super-middleweight against George Beroshvili, a fighter who not a lot is known about but a fighter who has a record that reads 19-5-2 with 12 wins by knockout, compared to Murray?s record of 29-2-1 with 12 coming by way of knockout.

For the fight tonight Murray weighed in at 12 stone 4 pounds and 4 ounces whilst his opponent tipped the scales at 11 stone and 3 pounds. Once the bell sounds it?ll be interesting to see if the extra poundage will enable Murray to showcase that little extra power he perhaps didn?t have at the lower weight.

Here at Vital Boxing we?re tipping Murray to make a winning start to his career as a super-middleweight stopping his opponent before the halfway mark.
