On the under-card of the IBF welterweight fight between Kell Brook and Frankie Gavin is a bout that one boxer knows will be his last chance of achieving his life-time goal.

Kevin Mitchell is a boxer that didn?t slightly go off the rails, his whole career got de-railed when he became a victim of the booze.

It?s not something Mitchell hides, in fact you get the view that the West Ham boxer uses that period of his life to drive himself finally grabbing a world title.

Mitchell?s last attempt, against the Australian boxer, Michael Katsidis, came on the back of a boozy night out, hardly the ideal preparation.

On Saturday, at the O2 Arena, Mitchell has a hard task ahead of him when he takes on Jorge Linares for the WBC version of the lightweight crown.

Talking about his troubles, the 30-year old has remarked to the media,

?I was so low I went to AA an hour a week for six months. Now I don?t drink ? I?m done with it.

?I was up to all sorts but now I?ve got things just right.?

If Mitchell?s hand is held high on Saturday night, accompanied by the words??and the NEW?..then it will almost be a fairy-tale come true.

Good luck Kevin from all at Vital Boxing.
