Fighting almost in his own backyard, West Ham?s Kevin Mitchell continued his comeback with a stoppage at the O2 Arena last night.

Taking on Mexico?s Marco Lopez, who looked a little flabby, Mitchell?s superior skills saw the contest end in the sixth round.

Lopez, who rarely troubled Mitchell, was game enough, getting up off the canvas on two occasions but was, on the whole, out of his depth.

Mitchell, trying to get his career on track after being beaten in a world title fight by Scotland?s Ricky Burns, is now hoping to take on the hard-hitting Derry Matthews in a domestic dust up which should be, if made, a match to look forward to.

  • Mitchell is a class above Matthews if his mind I son the job, but Matthews is always capable of that one shot knockout!
