On the under-card of the huge promotion at the O2 Arena, in London, Kevin Mitchell gets, you would feel, one last chance to edge towards another shot at the world title.
Mitchell, who in his last fight, was stopped by the WBC lightweight champion Jorge Linares in May, with his face a bloody and bumpy mess, will be taking on Ismael Barroso.
The fight is for the WBA interim lightweight belt and on paper it looks as if Mitchell faces a huge task to beat Barroso.
Barroso is something of a knockout artist and in his eighteen fights so far has stopped, by way of knockout, seventeen of his opponents.
Barroso is also the #2 WBA rated fighter as opposed to Mitchell?s ranking of #10.
At the weigh-in today, Mitchell tipped the scales at 134.5 lbs whilst Barroso weighed exactly the same.
For Mitchell to win, he clearly has to box clever and avoid those power punches from Barroso, Mitchell might even have to produce the performance of his life to take the verdict, but has he got it in him?
The defeat to Linares, in the 10th round, back in May could well have taken a lot out of the East London fighter, but can he produce one-last super effort, don?t bet against it, particularly when he?ll have the backing of his home support.
My heart tells me Mitchell on points but my head tells me Barroso by a mid-fight stoppage.
