On the undercard of the Purdy v Bundu European title fight, Dagenham?s Kevin Mitchell took another step towards another world title fight.

Mitchell, boxing at lightweight, put in an impressive display to force a ninth round stoppage against Spain?s Karim El Ouazghari.

With Mitchell looking towards a world title shot, having been stopped by Ricky Burns in his last attempt back in 2012, there is talk of a world-title eliminator being set up between Mitchell and the Hull fighter Tommy Coyle.

Both boxers hold very minor versions of the IBF title so there is a degree of credibility if the IBF do sanction the fight as a world title eliminator.

If so then the winner could be in line to face the IBF?s current world champion, the Mexican, Miguel Vazquez.

Now that would, I feel, be a fight to behold and, at 29 years of age, you?d have to think it would be Mitchell?s last crack at the big time.
