Sometimes I wonder how some things are allowed to happen!

Our sport has a hard enough time being accepted by the politically correct who object to grown men exchanging head punches without two ageing fighters, who really should have called it a day by now, trading blows for a vacant world title.

In a land down under, or at Toowoomba in Australia, two veterans who really should have given up the game by now; will engage in pugilistic activity trying to win the WBU version of the light-welterweight title.

The duo stepping into the ring are the Australian fighter Michael Katsidis and the British fighter Graham Earl.

The duo, who met back in 2007 (7 years ago) when Katsidis won a memorable fight, have been relatively inactive in recent years, in fact there was a common train of thought that the Luton fighter, Earl, had retired.

Quite how these two fighters managed to jump the queue to get this world title chance remains beyond me and when you throw into the hat the fact that there have already been unsavoury scenes between the two boxers at the weigh-in when they had to be pulled apart after squaring up to each other.

To me the whole event leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I?m hoping that, for the sake of our sport, the fight passes by without anything untoward unfolding!
