Floyd Mayweather Junior has always implied that once he reaches 49 fights unbeaten and matches the record of Rocky Marciano he?d call it a day.

Today, as his epic encounter with Manny Pacquiao draws nearer, Mayweather has confirmed that he will retire from the sport after two more fights.

With a record that currently reads 47-0, that promise he once made looks to be his bond.

But it appears that Mayweather may have another reason for retiring, it looks as if his love for the wonderful sport has waned with Floyd remarking,

‘I don’t enjoy it like I once did. My last fight is in September.’

Wrapping up his career in September would also tie the ends up nicely with regards to his TV contract with Showtime.

The Pacquiao fight will be the fifth of a six fight contract with Showtime meaning his last fight, in September, closes that particular chapter as well.

It remains to be seen whether Mayweather sticks to his word.
