At the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas last night, Floyd Mayweather Jnr stopped the UFC fighter, Conor McGregor in the 10th round of a one-sided fight.
The fight, seen by many boxing pundits as something of a freak-show, saw Mayweather?s classy boxing skills see off the aggression of McGregor.
Ahead of the bout the trash talk had seen the interest in the fight build-up, you either wanted McGregor to win or you wanted Mayweather to win, there was no middle ground.
With the noise cranked up in the T-Mobile Arena, McGregor made a good start, his aggressive approach saw him catch Mayweather with a flurry of early punches, particularly a crisp upper-cut at the end of the first round.
Mayweather, a veteran of the ring, had a plan whereby he was going to come on strong in the second half of the fight, as McGregor tired, it was a plan that was to work perfectly.
With McGregor tiring, Mayweather poured forward catching the UFC man with some decent shots and McGregor seemed to be on unsteady legs.
In the tenth round, the onslaught continued and the referee saw fit to stop the bout thereby making Mayweather the winner of the most lucrative fight, financially, the world has witnessed.
McGregor may have complained about the stoppage but the score-cards told the full story with the scores reading 89-81 89-82 87-83, all in favour of Mayweather.
Mayweather?s record moves to 50-0, but is that the last time we?ll see the legend in the ring?
