The feast of boxing we?ve been treated to over the past few weeks continues this weekend.

In Liverpool, this Saturday evening, Derry Matthews fights at the Echo Arena.

Matthews should have been fighting the Cuban Richar Abril for a version of the world title. However, much to the disappointment of Matthews, Abril pulled out of the bout claiming he was injured.

Instead, and to keep active, Matthews has a very tasty looking fight lined up against the Canadian, Tony Luis, for the interim WBA world lightweight title.

Slightly miffed by the changing of opponents Derry had this to say to the media as the bout approaches,

?I can?t? wait to go.

?I?m fighting for my fans on Saturday night who have stuck with me. It?s not been an easy few weeks with the changes in opponents but I?m delighted to still be fighting for a world title and in front of my home crowd.

?That can only spur me on and help me. I?m going for the knockout on Saturday and anyone who follows boxing knows that I?m always in the fight and make sure people get their money?s worth. Against Luis that will be no different ? it?s going to be explosive.?

Here at Vital Boxing it?s a fight we feel could go both ways, Tony Luis has fast hands and Derry Matthews likes to mix it up, sticking our heads above the parapet we reckon Matthews might be pushed all the way but could get a late stoppage.
