Last night the popular London fighter, Martin J Ward, wrote his name into the record books.
The super-featherweight successfully defended his British title to ensure he keeps the Lonsdale belt for ever.
In doing so, Ward becomes only the second traveller, following in the footsteps of Billy Joe Saunders, to do so.
Matched against the Belfast fighter Anthony Cacace, Ward took the verdict on a unanimous points decision.
The fight was a cagey affair with the taller Cacace content to box at range using his extra height to frustrate Ward.
But, as the rounds passed by, Ward managed to get closer to Cacace to land his punches.
The last round was the most exciting with both boxers going for it, neither quite sure as to which way the verdict might go.
As it turned out, it was Ward who had his arm lifted by the referee, to claim a place in the history books.
