This Sunday, at Goodison Park, Everton supporting Tony Bellew will be looking to win the vacant WBC cruiserweight title.
Bellew, who has a record that reads26-2-1 with 16 wins coming by knockout, faces a tough task when he faces the knockout specialist Ilunga Makabu.
Makabu will enter the ring with a record that reads 19-1 with 18 wins coming by way of knockout.
The 29-year-old isn?t fazed about coming to the United Kingdom to face Bellew and ahead of the fight has threatened to knock Bellew out, remarking,
?I am the King of Knockouts and for sure I will knock him out. I?m not going to be surprised and the people shouldn?t be shocked when they see me knock Tony Bellew out.
?I?m not going to wait for this fight to go the distance ? I will knock Tony out much before then. He won?t be able to survive eight or 10 rounds with me, let alone 12 ? no way.?
Can Bellew take inspiration from fighting on the pitch his football heroes perform on, I guess we?ll find out this weekend.
