On Friday night, in Spain, Matthew Macklin got back to winning ways.
With a fight coming up against Jason Welborn, at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham on October 17th, Macklin, now campaigning back at light-middleweight, took a warm-up fight against the German fighter, Chris Hermann.
The fight was held at the H10 Andalucia Plaza, Puerto Banus, in Marbella, AndalucĂa, Spain and didn?t last long with Macklin being a class above his somewhat novice opponent.
In fact proceedings were all over inside 76 seconds when Macklin caught his opponent with a left to the body that saw Hermann hit the deck and never recover.
Talking about the quick win, Macklin had this to say to boxing24.com
?I touched him [Hermann] with the uppercut to bring his hands up and that gave me the opening to the liver, floating rib area,?
?When you land clean there with a bit of power, not too many guys get up from it.?
Obviously delighted by the quick win, Macklin went on to discuss the forthcoming make-or-break fight with Jason Welborn, further adding,
?It?s an eight-rounder which I should be winning comfortably.
?This has given me a reason to be in the gym and something to focus on and train hard and diet properly.?
October 17th could be an interesting night, is Macklin on the way back or have his best days gone?
