News has broken today that one of the warriors of the ring has announced his retirement.

Matthew Macklin, who recently fought Brian Rose, has announced that his time in the ring is at an end.

Macklin, now thirty-three years of age has hung up his gloves after forty-one professional fights, of which the fighter won thirty-five.

Although Macklin took the British and European middleweight titles he just fell short on the world stage.

Macklin had three attempts at winning a world title but lost to:

But Macklin can never be accused of not giving his all and on announcing his retirement has remarked,

‘I wanted to know how good I was and test myself against the very best the sport had to offer and I can proudly say I did that.?
