A former world champion made his mark in Cardiff last night.

Whilst the Welsh support mourned the loss of Nathan Cleverly?s WBO light-heavyweight title, there were some celebrations to mark Enzo Maccarinelli?s capture of the Commonwealth light heavyweight champion.

Maccarinelli, now thirty-two years of age stopped Ovill McKenzie in the eleventh round of a decent fight.

The former WBO champion enjoyed the better success in the early rounds but had to fight off McKenzie as he edged the middle rounds, but the end came in round eleven when the referee, Phil Edwards, stepped in to save McKenzie from further punishment.

It remains to see where Maccarinelli goes from here.

Does he have the desire, ambition and skills to get back to the very top?
