Liam Smith could become the first of the four Smith brothers, from Liverpool, to become a world title holder.

Liam is set to fight the American fighter, John Thompson, at the Manchester Arena on October 10th for the WBO light-middleweight title.

Unbeaten Liam will be trying to achieve something that evaded his brother, Paul, who unsuccessfully fought Arthur Abraham twice in German for a world title fight.

Many boxing pundits are inferring that Liam is the best of the four Smith brothers and ahead of the bout Liam has spoken about the rivalry that exists between the quartet, remarking,

?We are a close-knit family. I?m hoping I?m the first of us four to win a world title but I know I won?t be the last ? the others will get there.?

?There is competition between us but no real rivalry. We all want each other to do well.?

Can Liam become the first to win a world title belt?

Here at Vital Boxing we reckon he can, how about you?
