After being stripped of the IBF version of the heavyweight title, for refusing to take a defence against their #1 contender, we didn?t expect Tyson Fury to take the action lying down.

True to form, our world heavyweight title holder has had a few words to say about what we here at Vital Boxing feel was a draconian and uncalled for action.

Taking to the media about stripped of the belt, Tyson has had this to say,

?Everyone knows I’m the number one heavyweight on the planet. They can take all of their belts if they want – WBO, WBA, IBO and the Ring magazine.

‘They can give them to Fred Flintstone, Joe Bloggs, Superman or Batman for all I care. It doesn’t matter what they do as it won’t take away what I am.

‘I’m still the best heavyweight boxer in the world.

‘I’m not interested in the IBF. They’ve took the belt so I want my sanctioning fees back because there’s no point in paying for a belt I’m not having.

‘As far as I’m concerned the IBF are a duff organisation. I’m the lineal heavyweight in the division and now they haven’t got their belt associated with me and they never will have it associated with me again.

‘They didn’t give me any time to negotiate with Glazkov – it was two days’ notice. How could I have not fought Klitschko again? I’m clause-contracted to a rematch so I can’t not fight him again.’

What saddens me most is that we were at a stage where, in nine months? time, we could possibly have had a unified heavyweight champion of the world, how foolish of me to expect such a thing when the murky world of boxing politics was always going to upset the apple-cart.
