Andy Lee returned to the ring on the under-card of the Golovkin v Jacobs show last night, at the legendary Madison Square Garden, in New York City.

Lee has been conspicuous by his absence from the ring for over a year. The Irish fighter hasn?t fought since losing his WBO middleweight title to Billy Joe Saunders, back in December 2015.

Last night Lee was matched against KeAndrae Leatherwood, in an eight-round fight.

The judges scored the fight in favour of Lee, with the score-cards reading:

? 78 ? 74
? 79 ? 73
? 80 ? 72

The win takes Lee?s record to 35-3-1 with 24 of those wins coming by way of knockout whilst his opponent sees his record slip to 19-4-1 with 12 wins coming by way of knockout.

However, it wasn?t a fight that many will remember, the opening rounds were devoid of any major action and throughout the fight Lee didn?t show the normal aggression he?s famed for.

Leatherwood, clearly not in the same class as Lee, did have his moments though and caught Lee with a big punch that stunned the Irishman in round four.

With his comeback fight ending in a win, it remains to be seen where 32-year-old Lee?s career goes next.
