Yesterday, surfing the web, there was a general consensus of opinion that the forthcoming fight for the WBO middleweight title between Andy Lee and Billy Joe Saunders might not be happening.

Various rumours suggested that one, or both, of the fighters had picked up minor injuries in their training camps whilst one article, plausibly, suggested the first world title fight between two travellers hadn?t sold as many tickets as it had been expected to.

Now the above was, yesterday, just supposition, people, on the back of the gossip, were drawing their own conclusions on the various boxing forums out there.

But it seems the vibe about the fight not going ahead on the scheduled date was correct.

Later on in the day it was confirmed that Andy Lee had picked up a virus that meant that the fight would have to be postponed.

However, a new date has now been set for the huge clash with the bout now scheduled to take place at the Manchester Arena on October 10th.

Here at Vital Boxing we?re pleased that we?ve not been left hanging around for a new date but disappointed that Ireland has been deprived of another huge night of boxing and we have every sympathy for all those who had already laid out hard-earned cash for flight tickets.
