The newly crowned WBO middleweight champion, Andy Lee, could be making a defence of his crown against another opponent before facing his mandatory challenger Billy Joe Saunders.
There is talk in the media that Lee could be taking a fight against the #6WBA fighter, Patrick Nielsen, in Dublin with a date of either March 14th or March 21st being spoken about.
If that is the case it would appear that a fight with Saunders would be placed on the back-burner until the summer.
However, if Lee is allowed to make a voluntary defence of his WBO crown against a fighter with a record of 23-1 with 11 wins coming by way of a knockout, it is a bit puzzling as Nielsen was beaten in his last outing by Dmitry Chudinov back in June.
Quite how the WBO fee fit to sanction the aforementioned bout and making Saunders wait is, to say the least, baffling.
