It was December 2015 when Andy Lee and Billy Joe Saunders went head-to-head for the WBO middleweight title held by Andy Lee.

In that fight Lee lost his world title by a majority points decision with Lee hitting the canvas twice in the third round.

Both boxers, strangely, haven?t fought since.

However, it appears that Andy Lee, who has a record that reads 34-3-1 with 24 wins coming by stoppage, is set to climb back into the ring in early January.

Negotiations are taking place that would see Lee, who is still ranked at number 9 by the WBC and number 15 by the WBO, take on the number 1 ranked WBC fighter Jorge Sebastian Holland, who has a record that reads 28-4-2 with 15 wins coming by knockout.

If the fight can be made it is hoped that the winner will get a fight against the legend that is the IBF, IBO, WBA and WBC middleweight champion of the world Gennady Golovkin.

If, by chance the victor should be Lee, it would give the fighter the chance to take a fight he was scheduled to have taken on in 2015, a fight that never occurred due to the death of Golovkin?s father.

Welcome back Andy Lee.
