This Saturday, in Manchester, at the third time of asking, Andy Lee and Billy Joe Saunders will climb into the ring to fight for the super-middleweight crown.
On two previous occasions the bout has fallen victim to injuries sustained by the boxers but it now appears both are set to go to war, Lee to retain his title and Saunders to wrestle it from the 31-year-old Champions grasp.
Ahead of the weigh-in, taking place this Friday, both boxers are talking a good fight with the reigning title holder, Lee remarking,
?For him, it?s the biggest night of his career. For me, it?s another fight, just another opponent.
?This is going to be one of my best fights. My concentration and focus is on me and nobody else.?
Saturday night could be a career defining night for the Irishman, a victory could set Lee up, sometime next year, for a crack at the fearsome Gennady Golovkin, something Lee has spoken about in the build-up to his clash with Saunders.
However, it appears that Saunders, who earned the right to challenge Lee by defeating Chris Eubank Junior, is desperate to wrench the belt from the grasp of Lee and has remarked,
?I?m in the shape of my life ? I?ve never wanted anything so badly.?
It?s all shaping up to be a decent fight, but who is your money on?
Sat here in the Vital Boxing editorial chair, I?m edging toward Lee retaining is title, on points.
