After moving up a weight, Ricky Burns returns to the ring this Saturday evening.
However, fighting at the First Direct Arena, in Leeds, Burns will have to cope with a late change of opponent.
Scheduled to fight Esteban Gonzalez, Burns will now be fighting Alexandre Lepelley.
Lepelley is 32 years of age and has won 17 of his 19 fights. The promoters have, naturally, talked the fight up by insisting that Lepelley is a tougher proposition than the original opponent.
Looking ahead to fighting at light-welterweight, Burns has already marked to the media,
‘I believe the move up in weight will really benefit me.’
‘The lightweight limit was proving tougher to make in my last few fights, so that’s now behind me and I can concentrate on working on my boxing.’
Come the sound of that first bell, in Leeds, we?ll discover if the move up in weight will be the making or breaking of the Scottish fighter.
Late Opponent Change for Burns!
