Picking up the usual array of tabloid papers this morning, the front page of one stopped me clean in my tracks.
For a good minute or two I just stood there absolutely gob-smacked.
Staring up at me from the front page was a headline revealing that the well-respected boxing promoter Frank Maloney was now undergoing gender reassignment and was now known as Kellie.
Maloney, during a distinguished career as a fight promoter, will forever be remembered as the diminutive guy bedecked in a Union Jack suit that guided Lennox Lewis to the world heavyweight title.
Naturally the tabloid covering this story, with an exclusive, has pages after pages detailing Frank?s woe but the key lines we?ve picked out suggest that Maloney has always been troubled with lines stating,
‘I can’t keep living in the shadows, that is why I am doing what I am today. Living with the burden any longer would have killed me.?
‘What was wrong at birth is now being medically corrected. I have a female brain. I knew I was different from the minute I could compare myself to other children.?
‘I wasn’t in the right body. I was jealous of girls.’
I still don?t quite know what to make of it???????..I guess I never will but I do admire the sheer guts it must have taken to come clean!
Knock Me Down With a Feather!
