As a youngster whenever there was scheduled to be a bout for the heavyweight title I was captivated by the aura surrounding the very words heavyweight champion of the world.

I grew up in an era when Ali, Foreman and Frazier ruled the roost, names that bums on seats, drew millions to the television screen and had millions more around the globe tuned into something called a wireless.

Tonight, over in Germany, the current IBF, WBA and WBO world champion, Wladimir Klitschko, defends his titles against Alex Leapei.

Now whilst the world, several decades ago, might have been jumping for joy at the prospect of a heavyweight title fight tonight, this fight does nothing of the sot.

In fact many people are still pondering how the Samoan has been granted a shot at the world title when his record shows he?s fought nobody of any consequence.

Naturally, I?m taking Klitschko to win and it could be by an early stoppage but how I yearn for somebody like Deontay Wilder to grab hold of the heavyweight scene, give it a damn good shake-up and reinvigorate a division that has, courtesy of the Klitschko domination, been stale for years.
