Although Amir Khan must have known that the ink would finally be put on the contract committing Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao to finally meet in the ring, the Bolton fighter must be more than a touch disappointed to miss out.

The 28-year old now has to plot a new course for his career although he is hopeful that he can get a bout with the winner of the mega-fight.

Speaking about the future Amir has remarked to the media,

?I want to fight the best and I think me and Mayweather will happen one day. We know the interest is there from Mayweather?s team ? and Pacquiao?s come to that.

?I?ve been chasing Mayweather for a long time now and I know for certain that no matter if it?s him or Pacquiao I will beat either.

?I?m upset in a way and frustrated the fight has finally been made official because I?ve been so close to getting a bout with Mayweather on a couple of occasions.

?Even so, as a boxing fan, you can?t argue against a fight as big as this one. I have to put my hand up and give Floyd respect for taking on Pacquiao.?

Some fine words from Amir though and it?ll certainly be interesting to see who Khan?s next opponent is as he plots a return to the top.
