Over in Las Vegas, on Saturday night, at the MGM Grand, Amir Khan was sat ringside watching Floyd Mayweather beat Saul Alvarez.

If Amir gets his wish, he could be fighting the American legend, in Britain, next year. However, if that is to be the case, his current trainer, Virgil Hunter, has indicated that Amir will need to up his game, remarking to the media,

?Amir must understand that if he is going to be really competitive, he has to show the same dedication and desire that Floyd Mayweather shows.?

?My thing with Amir is to push him and say ?Look, you have to make this sport a priority?. And that?s what it is. You can?t take months off boxing, running here and running there and think you can come into an eight-week camp and perform at the best of your ability ? because it is not going to happen.?

?Amir is good enough to win the belt, he is good enough to beat anyone on a given night.?

?If he changes his ideas, really commits to boxing, really becomes a student of the game and really becomes driven to be great in the sport, then he could grow very quickly.?

?Floyd looks remarkable at the moment because he does it the way it has to be done.?

Some chilling words and words that would seem to indicate that Amir sometimes, how you might say, relies on his natural ability to see him through.

Nevertheless, Amir remains confident of what the outcome would be if he were to beat Mayweather with the Bolton fighter remarking to the media,

?Fighting Floyd Mayweather is my dream fight.?

?We are superstars of boxing and, once I have got Devon Alexander out of the way, it will be Mayweather for me, fingers crossed.?

?I met him here at the weigh-in and he said that I was a great fighter.?

?Beating him would make me the best fighter on the planet ? 100 per cent.?

?I will be focused and make no mistakes.?

That remains to be seen, although it should be pointed out that perhaps the only way for Mayweather to be beaten is by a boxer with lightning quick hands, but does Amir have the defensive durability to withstand the plethora of leather that would be coming his way in return?
