Over the past few weeks we?ve spoken about the distinct possibility that, finally, Amir Khan and Kell Brook might meet, on British soil, in a grudge-fight.

It appeared, a couple of weeks ago, all obstacles standing between such a fight had been overcome.

Unfortunately, it now seems we?re as far away as ever from the two climbing between the ropes to face each other.

It appears that discussions leading to a meeting have broken down by a disagreement in how the purse would be split.

The promoter trying to put the fight together, Eddie Hearn, has reported that he offered the two fighters, both 30-years-of-age, a 50-50 split. However, it seems that Amir Khan wanted a 70-30 split, in his favour, as he felt he was the ?bigger? name of the two welterweights, prompting Hearn to remark.

‘When someone puts 70-30 on the table, it puts up boundaries.

‘The communication lines are open but it’s just the perception of what the split should be between the two camps is too wide.’

Khan, a veteran of 9 world title bouts, took to the social network site Twitter to tweet,

‘Eddie I’m the A side. Don’t you agree?

’70/30. You both will make a lot of money.’

Prompting, Hearn to reply,

‘I think Amir Khan is a bigger name than Kell Brook but Kell Brook is the world champion.

‘Kell is coming off the back of a loss and Amir Khan got knocked out badly in his last fight so I think 45 or 55 per cent one way is a reasonable range but he might take the fight later in the year.’

It?s sad that a deal can?t be reached at the moment, but Hearn hasn?t given up hope and sees the two fighters, perhaps, having, eventually, more than one fight with each other, further adding,

‘I think Amir Khan has got three or four fights left.

‘Three of them could be a trilogy against Kell Brook because I think they would all be fantastic fights. They are 50-50 fights so the purse should be too.’

If both boxers are so confident of winning, why not spilt the purse with the winner taking the higher amount!

It?s only a suggestion!
