Following Amir Khan’s sensational performance against Phil Lo Greco, at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, on Saturday night, talk of an all-British showdown against Kell Brook has started to dominate the boxing chat.

Khan, having stopped Lo Greco in just 39 seconds, wasn’t afraid to call-out Brook during his ringside interview, remarking about the possibility of facing his rival from Sheffield,

“That fight is something I am not rushing and not running away from.

“I will fight Kell Brook and beat Kell Brook. Kell Brook has been living off my name for a long time. I am a stronger fighter, a better fighter.

“I’m not a fighter to run away.”

Brook, who had been ringside at the fight but who climbed into the ring to confront Khan, responded with,

“Amir, all the fans want the fight, I want the fight.

“He can go in the jungle and chase stars but when he gets in there with me, I’ll make him see stars.”

With both boxers, currently, fighting under the Matchroom banner, Eddie Hearn knows it is a fight he could organise and the promoter, talking about matching the two 31-year-olds, had this to say when asked about the prospect, on Saturday night,

“Kell Brook doesn’t like Amir Khan. Amir Khan doesn’t like Kell Brook. This fight should have happened 12 months ago, two years ago. We’ve still got time. Let’s not regret it.

Is it a fight that will happen?

Possibly, but with Khan now talking about fighting Adrien Broner, it could have to wait until 2019.
