The realization that he?ll not be fighting Floyd Mayweather Junior or Manny Pacquiao next seems to have had Amir Khan re-evaluating his future.
Deprived of a glitzy fight night in Las Vegas against one of the two aforementioned superstars, Khan is now looking towards a return to New York and a headlining date at the famous Madison Square Garden.
For Khan it would mean a return to the venue where, back in 2010 Khan enthralled the New York public beating their favourite Paulie Malignaggi.
Although no dates have been mentioned for a Madison Square Garden return, three possible opponents have been suggested, these being:-
? Tim Bradley
? Juan Manuel Marquez
? Miguel Cotto
Speaking about Mayweather, Pacquiao and New York, Khan had this to say to the media,
?Although nothing?s arranged yet, I think the fight between those two will happen.
?I had been looking to take on either of them and I have spoken to their teams.
?But now they?re fighting each other, that?s killed their names off for me ? at least for the time being.
?It?s a waiting game at the moment for my next fight. Bradley would be my #1 pick but really I?m not bothered.
?New York would be the perfect venue. My wife Faryal is from there and, when I fought Malignaggi at Madison Square Garden in 2010, it was brilliant for me.?
Although Khan might be disappointed at not getting the big fight he yearned for, yet, but a return to New York does seem to excite the Bolton fighter and who knows, a convincing performance might yet get him that dream fight he craves.
