Having discovered the hard way that moving up two weight decisions to take on Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez, in hindsight, might not have been the best of ideas, it seems that Amir Khan is set to continue his boxing career back down at welterweight.
The Bolton fighter has revealed that he plans to retire from Boxing in two years? time but not before he settles a few scores.
As the #1 mandatory challenger to Danny Garcia, Khan is hoping that he?ll, very soon, get the chance to take on the WBC welterweight king, thereby avenging a defeat earlier in his career.
But, following the Garcia bout, Khan has his eyes on the fight British boxing has been waiting for, Khan has declared that he will be focussing on the IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook.
Talking to the media about taking on Brook, Khan has remarked,
?I think that fight cold happen next year. I want it to happen and I want it to happen at 147lb.
?We both went up two weight divisions this year and didn?t win. We should box at welterweight to finally see who the man is. My body-frame is not built for light-middle or middleweight. It wasn?t healthy for me.
?Welterweight suits me and it?s where Brook won his world title.?
Let?s get it on I say.
