With British boxing celebrating another world title win last night, with James DeGale beating Andre Dirrell, attention is starting to be focussed on Amir Khan?s fight in the US next weekend.
Khan will be taking on Chris Algieri in New York knowing that there is a chance that he could, if he puts on a good performance, be Floyd Mayweather Juniors next (last) opponent.
Talking about the possibility, in the lead up to the fight with Algieri, Khan has remarked,
?I have to take care of Chris Algieri and then it will lead me to a big fight with Floyd Mayweather.
?That?s what happened when Manny beat Algieri and hopefully it happens with me.
?I have the same team as Mayweather, Al Haymon, and they have most probably thought let?s leave Amir until after this fight and then we can sit down and talk. I can fight in September now.?
However, Amir is taking nothing for granted knowing Algieri has only been beaten once, by Pacquaio, further adding,
?If it is a bad performance against Algieri I don?t think Mayweather can happen. That is why this fight is so important and I have to look good.?
Here at Vital Boxing we reckon Khan will beat Algieri but as for getting that fight with Floyd, you just never know what might happen when the Mayweather camp is involved.
