This weekend, as you are all aware, there is a huge fight about to take place, but it?s a fight that could have ramifications for a British fighter.

With Floyd Mayweather Junior set to go head-to-head with Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez in Las Vegas, there are several pundits who reckon the legend that is Floyd Mayweather Junior, could be beaten by his opponents.

Amir Khan, set to fight Devon Alexander in December, is hoping that is not the case with it being rumoured that Khan, if things stay on track, could take on Mayweather, next year in England.

Speaking about the potential clash with Mayweather but with an angle on the forthcoming fight the legend has with Alvarez, Amir had this to say to the media,

?They are both good fighters and I respect them but it will be something new for Mayweather.?

?He is getting caught more and he?s fighting a young hungry fighter who believes he can win.?

?You can see from his recent fights that Floyd is taking a lot more punches, so maybe Alvarez has his number.?

?Floyd is amazing. He still has that superb defence but there are more gaps. He?s 36, it?s only natural.?

?If Floyd wins this fight and I get past Alexander that could lead into a super-fight.?

It may well do but Boxing is, as we?re well aware, a sport whereby the best laid plans could be shattered in an instant.

As for the forthcoming fight this weekend, between Mayweather and Alvarez, my money is on Mayweather keeping that long unbeaten run, but he could be in for a scare or two along the way.

As for Khan taking on Alexander, let?s just say Amir had better keep his chin tucked in or else that dream fight with Mayweather could be nothing more than wishful thinking!
