Don?t you just love it when there?s an element of rivalry between two fighters!
Kell Brook and Amir Khan are a fine example of what I?m alluding to. As Kell Brook waits for the opportunity to fight for a world title, having established himself as the #1 IBF contender, there have, over many months, been challenges issued to Bolton?s Amir Khan about the two getting together in the same ring.
Obviously Brook feels that a match up between the two would be something he could handle. Khan?s usual retort has often been along the lines of he?d be prepared to talk business if Brook was to bring a belt to the table.
However, with the rivalry being upped to another level and with Brook supposedly set to take on the IBF champion, Shawn Porter, a fighter with a record of 24-0-1 with 15 by way of knockout, Khan reckons Brook isn?t relishing taking on Porter in a fight that would, most probably, happen in the USA.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Khan is quoted as having curtly remarked,
?Brook-Porter is not going to happen because Kell doesn?t think he can win it,?
?I don?t think Kell has got the bottle to take a big fight like that; he?s always been all talk when it comes to the big fights. Some fighters are like that.?
Now I wonder what Kell Brook will have to say on the subject matter, knowing his rival has not only been where he has yet to go but has this penchant for taking on anybody who is put in front of him?
