After failing to secure a bout with the now retired Floyd Mayweather Junior, it looks very much as if Amir Khan?s next fight will be against the legend that is Manny Pacquiao.

Pacquiao, beaten by Mayweather but expected to have recovered from a shoulder injury he claimed affected his performance, is said to be taking one more fight before retiring from boxing to devote all his time to politics.

Rumour had it that Pacquiao wanted a re-match with Mayweather but it appears, for now, the retirement we mentioned is permanent.

Instead, it looks as if Pacquiao has decided that he will bow out with a fight against Amir who was, at one stage of his career, also amongst the group of fighters Freddie Roach trains.

It?s suggested that the fight will go ahead in Los Angeles next April and that Khan has signed is half of the contract with it being suggested by the Daily Mail?s boxing correspondent, Jeff Powell,

‘As far as the Khans are concerned it is a done deal. I had a long chat with Amir?s father Shah and he says he has agreed the deal in every detail, accepted all the terms and conditions, sent off the paperwork and are expecting to get their end of the contract from Pacquiao?s camp next week.’

Personally I think Khan?s taking on Pacquiao at just the right time, Manny is on a downward spiral and Khan sees this as the perfect chance to get his name up in the brightest of lights, it remains to be seen though whether he has the beating of a legend.
