It would seem that we are as far away as ever when it comes to seeing Amir Khan and Kell Brook in the ring together.
Reports suggest that talks to get the bout on started but came t an abrupt end when Khan’s camp demanded an 80-20 purse split.
The war of words between all parties continues with Khan having accused his Sheffield rival of defending his IBF welterweight title against bums.
Trying to get the talks back on track, it appears that Eddie Hearn offered Khan a 60-40 split of the purse but there has been no further movement when it comes to making the match.
Talking to Sky Sports, Hearn is attributed as having remarked,
‘He is trying to price himself out of the fight because he doesn’t want it.
‘It’s been very positive for the last few weeks and when there is dialogue it’s always good. But I was left gobsmacked by their demands.
‘I appreciate Khan is probably a bigger name than Kell Brook but Kell Brook is world champion and he needs some kind of parity. More importantly, he needs some respect.’
Brook, doing his utmost to call Khan out and get him to take the fight, has chipped in with,
‘There you have it Amir Khan, put up or shut up. No more talk, June 4 Wembley stadium for the world title. I will destroy you.’
Will these two ever get it on or is it destined to be one of those fights that never happens?
Your thoughts would be most appreciated.
