All the recent talk has been of a potential bout between two fighters that got to know each other very well at the Freddie Roach gym.

Having missed out on a bout with the now retired (really) Floyd Mayweather Junior, Amir Khan was hopeful that he could tempt Manny Pacquiao into taking him on once the former eight division world champion recovers from his shoulder injury.

But whilst, at one-stage, the early odds suggested it was a fight that could be made, it no seems that any chances of the bout going ahead are over.

Talking about his career direction, the Bolton fighter has remarked about the potential bout with Pacquiao,

?I have pulled out of the negotiations. I am no longer fighting Manny Pacquiao.

?They know I am a tricky fight for him and they know I will beat him. Or else, why pull out of a fight when there is a lot of money on the table? I don?t really know if Mayweather is fighting Pacquiao again. It is a possible reason for him to stall on signing the contract, but I don?t really know.?

Which leaves Khan looking for a potential opponent for his next bout, said to be in December, early contenders for the opposite corner are:-

? Danny Garcia
? Tim Bradley

Or

? Lamont Peterson

All formidable fighters with two of those, Garcia and Peterson, having victories over the Bolton man, something Khan would like to avenge.

Once a date and an opponent has been announced we?ll follow this one up further.
