At the SSE Arena, in Belfast, Josh Kelly produced a scintillating performance to stop Jose Luis Zuniga.

Ahead of the bout, Zuniga had never been stopped in his career.

Kelly, showing that he is definitely one to pay close attention to in the coming months, not only stopped Zuniga but did so as early as the second round.

Twenty-three-year-old Kelly started fast, catching Zuniga with a stunning uppercut that clearly hurt the Mexican.

Kelly pushed forward relentlessly catching Zuniga with some fierce hooks forcing the Mexican to cover up on the ropes.

Zuniga did enough to hear the bell sound for the end of the round but the second round was to see Kelly start with the same ferocity.

Kelly?s hand-speed and footwork was first class as he delivered some more devastating punches. The end came when Kelly caught Zuniga with a vicious uppercut followed by a fierce left-hand to the body forcing the referee to intervene and stop the fight.

After the bout, the impressive Kelly had this to say,

‘I started sharp and caught him off guard. I can only do what I can do in there. It was good to get out there in front of the Belfast crowd.

‘He’s a Mexican champion and had never been stopped, he was brought in to give us a hard eight rounds. He was very tough, I was hurting my hands on his head, but I got the job done.’

Following this performance, the sky really could be the limit for Josh Kelly.
