Last night, at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, Joe Joyce had his second professional fight as a heavyweight.
The Olympic silver medal winner took on Rodolf Jozic as the main event on the David Haye promoted Hayemaker Ringstar Fight Night.
Joyce made short work of his opponent, stopping him in the first-round.
Joyce started the fight excellently, catching Jozic with a flurry of powerful body-shots before unleashing a huge right-hook that saw Jozic hit the canvas and be counted out.
Speaking to the media after the fight, Joyce had this to say,
?I made sure I got a good warm-up and was straight in and ready to go.?
However, having gained the victory, his promoter, David Haye, wants the fighter to take on the former world title challenger, Derek Chisora, in his next fight as he seeks t move his charge up the ratings as quick as he can.
Talking about just such a bout, Haye remarked to the media,
?We are willing to offer Dereck a sizeable six-figure pay day to take the fight.
?It would be worth as much as Chisora?s European Heavweight title shot against reigning undefeated 14-0 Champion, Agit Kabayel.?
The plan being for Joyce v Chisora to be on the under-card of the Tony Bellew v David Haye second fight at the O2 Arena on 5 May.
It remains to be seen whether Chisora takes the bait.
